Netherlands-India Agri Collaboration: Climate smart agriculture innovations mission
This webinar series (videos) by the Netherlands Embassy in India and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) are part of the climate smart agriculture (CSA) innovation mission of the Netherlands in India to explore, identify and encourage research and development collaboration between Dutch and Indian partners.
The first webinar (video) focused on breeding as an important “tool” to deal with climate effect on agriculture. Climate change is predicted to reduce crop yields by 2030s by 10 to 50%, due to increasing droughts, pests and diseases etc. Breeders and researchers are working on making plants tolerant to these stresses. Experts discussed the state of the art and future directions in plant breeding.
The second webinar (video) discussed remote sensing, addressing the latests developments in research as well as innovative applications which enable and support CSA and sustainable development. Several researchers and companies presented and illustrated how innovative solutions can help to advance farmers insights on soil, irrigation and crop health, increasing production and income
The third webinar (video) was focusing on water and soil solutions and practives, addressing the latests developments in research as well as innovative applications which enable and suport CSA and sustainable farming. Issues discussed included water harvesting, storage, wastewate treatment and re-use, and landscape restoration.
The fourth webinar (video) addressed Digital Farming and what opportunities it offers, also for smallholder farmers. The latests developments in research as well as innovative applications which enable and support CSA and sustainable farming were discussed.
The fifth webinar (video) elaborated on greenhouses to enable and support CSA and sustainable farming. During the webinar it was discussed how to scale up greenhouses in India with the right business model.
During the sixth and final webinar (video), the main question that was addressed was: “How to scale up Climate Smart Agriculture?”.
