FOOD 2030 & ARCH Pre Event on Tomorrow’s Nutrition & Food Systems

A High-Level Event on European Research and Development for Agriculture and Food Security will be held in Brussels from October 11 to 13, entitled “FOOD 2030: Research and Innovation for Tomorrow’s Nutrition & Food Systems“. Organizers are the European Commission, together with governmental, research and knowledge actors and institutions from EU member states, including the Netherlands.

The main conference will be preceded by Pre Events. During the High-Level Event there will be panel discussions and participative workshops in which several hundreds of researchers, policy makers, private sector and civil society from EU member states will participate.

ARCH Pre Event

One of the Pre Events, on October 11, is entitled “The role of consumers in sustainable consumption and production in Europe and in developing countries” and will highlight the increasingly international dimension of food systems and the need to include the perspectives of consumers, in Europe and outside Europe. It will also stress the need to strengthen consumers’ involvement in research and innovation, from agenda setting towards research uptake resulting in greater impact on global challenges. This Pre Event is a coproduction of the European ARCH working group (European Agricultural Research towards greater impact on global challenges), two other EU level working groups and the European Commission. The Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands as well as the Food & Business Knowledge Platform are among the co-organizers.
