From February 24 to 28, 2019, consortium partners of the Global Challenges Programme (GCP) project “Horticultural food systems in Chile and Uruguay (HortEco)” gathered in Chile for a midterm meeting and a public workshop on agroecological transitions. Purpose of the meeting was learning, assessing progress and planning future actions.

The objective of the one-day public workshop entitled “Production, commercialization and Participatory Guarantee Systems (PSG) in agroecological transitions: exchange of experiences between Chile and Uruguay” was to support exchange and reflection about:

  1. challenges for an agroecological management in agricultural production systems;
  2. new business models to support agroecological and organic production and;
  3. iii) role of networks and participatory certification systems in agroecological transitions.

Participants to the workshop included representatives of agroecological networks in both Chile and Uruguay, farmer’s associations, representatives of public institutions, technical advisors, students and researchers.

An article (in Spanish) about the HortEco midterm meeting and the workshop was published on the website of the Agronomy School, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
