Write-shop targeting the NWO-WOTRO ARF second call

From 11 till 14 November 2014 a write-shop targeting the NWO-WOTRO Applied Research Fund (ARF) second call is taking place in Entebbe, Uganda. Knowledge Broker Nicole Metz is representing the Office of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform, which is involved in the preparation of the ARF calls and impact improvement during the project implementation.

The write-shop is facilitated by Gerard den Ouden and organised by RUFORUM (Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture) as part of the PAEPARD initiative (the Platform for African European Partnership on Agricultural Research for Development) which supports research collaboration between a wide range of organizations in Africa and Europe. It is coordinated by the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and supported by the European Union (EU) through DG DevCo.

The workshop, given in English and French, focuses on the funding requirements, the development of the contents of the proposals, the eligibility of activities and partners, and the electronic submission technicalities. These subjects are addressed in both peer review sessions and individual group sessions.

The final aim of the workshop is that each proposal has a well-developed structure and that contents can easily be transferred into the proposal template.

Nicole Metz is representing the Office of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform and has explained the context and objectives of ARF. For the Platform, this is an excellent opportunity to meet practitioners interested in ARF; to hear what their strengths, weaknesses and opportunities are; and which knowledge questions they have related to their work.
