YEP Agrofood Partnership Agreement signed
The Young Expert Programme Agrofood (YEP Agrofood) is now official; the Partnership Agreement has been signed! Marcel Beukeboom – Head Food & Nutrition Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands -, Lennart Silvis – Managing Director of the Netherlands Water Platform (NWP) -, and Hedwig Bruggeman – Managing Director of AgriProFocus (on behalf of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform) – signed the agreement for the implementation of YEP Agrofood.
The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implement the successful Young Expert Programme Water (YEP Water) since 2013. YEP Water is set up to provide assurances for the continued availability of international professionalism and expertise in the water sector.
Because of the ongoing internationalization in food and trade, and the increasing importance of the food sector for sustainable development in emerging economies and developing countries, YEP Agrofood was initiated. The programme is a logic and inspirational extension of YEP Water and is implemented in partnership with the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP). The official Partnership Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NWP and AgriProFocus (on behalf of F&BKP) has now been signed.
YEP Agrofood will offer Dutch young professionals an opportunity to acquire professional experience abroad and young local professionals the chance to take their first steps in an international work environment via Dutch organizations. The programme will make a contribution to a dynamic international agrofood network with a new generation of agrofood experts.
YEP Agrofood offers scope for the development of 22 Young Experts per year: 11 Dutch and 11 local young professionals in 68 countries. The programme will last for 5 years and aspires an equal deployment of men and women. The Young Experts will participate in a special training and coaching programme and will receive intensive and external coaching during the period of their secondment.
Dutch companies, knowledge institutions and social organizations that are involved in the policy for and implementation of development cooperation activities outside the Netherlands, can submit a project proposal for the deployment of a Young Expert for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 2 years. The upcoming deadline to submit proposals is Monday September 14, 2015. Next opportunity to apply will be in February 2016.
