Seven new YEP vacancies; three in Agrofood

Young Expert Programmes (YEP) is looking for Dutch candidates for seven new YEP positions. Main goal of YEP, consisting of YEP Agrofood, Water and Renewable Energy, is to offer young professionals the opportunity to kickstart their international career supported by training and coaching.  The current Agrofood vacancies in Kenya and Rwanda are open for Dutch nationals only. Application for the new YEP positions in batch 20 is open until April 1, 2020.

YEP Programmes is again looking for candidates who would like to kickstart their international career, develop themselves into a professional in the international water, agrofood and/or energy sector, while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals at the same time. A Young Expert has international ambition and wants to innovate these sectors. Young Experts work for a Dutch organization while living in a developing country; being part of the YEP Programmes means they are supported through training, coaching and mentoring.

At this moment, there are seven job opportunities open for Dutch nationals, of which three in the Agrofood sector Kenya and Rwanda. Application for these YEP positions is open until April 1, 2020. Candidates who are selected, are required to attend the training weeks of YEP batch #20 from June 15 until July 3, 2020. Due to the corona virus/COVID-19, the training weeks might be rescheduled to September 21 till October 9, 2020.

By assessing the self test on the YEP website, candidates can find out if they meet the criteria for becoming a Young Expert.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION – Q-Point BV – Kenya, Nakuru County

Location: Kenya, Nakuru County
Position: Junior Consultant Value Chain Management
Project title: Value chain management and business incubation in agro and food chains in Kenya
Duration: 2 year(s)
Background: Q-Point is an independent Dutch consultancy firm working for the Dutch and international public and private sector. Q-Point is specialised in consultancy projects for agro food businesses (from producer to retailer), donors and public institutions. Q-Point has a broad experience in food safety (GlobalG.A.P., BRC, IFS, GMP+), traceability, integrated quality management (ISO), value chain management & analysis and market/business development (e.g. development, coordination and project management of international value chain projects). Currently Q-Point is involved as the leading firm in four (4) ongoing (Nuffic NICHE/OKP) capacity building projects in Kenya in the field of agro and food value chains and business incubation.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION – Bio Food Products – Kenya, Nairobi

Position: Logistics & Project Manager
Project title: Logistics Optimization
Location: Kenya, Nairobi
Duration: 2 years
Introduction: Bio Food Products is Dairy Processor of a wide category premium dairy products in Nairobi, Kenya. Since the company was acquired by The Blue link in 2016, the organization quadrupled their production volumes in the last four years. It is Bio’s mission to produce the cleanest, healthiest and best tasting dairy products for its customers, whenever and wherever they want them. They plan to continue their fast growth and establish an even stronger dairy value chain in which all stakeholders from “grass to glass” will benefit and continue to grow their businesses and communities.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION – ICCO Central Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office – Rwanda, Kigali

Position: Learning and Knowledge Sharing Advisor
Country: Rwanda, Kigali
Project Title: Strengthening African Rural Smallholders (STARS)
Duration: 1 year
Introduction: ICCO is a Dutch-based organisation for international development cooperation with 50 years of experience and regional office in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. ICCO connects, promotes, and strengthens the work of local civil society organisations (CSOs), producer organisations, medium enterprises (SMEs), national/multinational companies and governments. In short: ICCO helps farmers and their businesses grow. The focus is on food and nutrition security, entrepreneurship, access to finance and new technologies for marginalized communities with a focus on women and youth. ICCO has worked in Africa since the 1960s. The Central, Eastern a nd Southern Africa Regional Office (RO CESA) is located in Uganda. This office develops and implements programmes in the following countries: South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Madagascar.
