New YEP positions

Young Expert Programmes (YEP) is looking for Dutch candidates for eight new YEP positions. Main goal of YEP, consisting of YEP Agrofood and YEP Water, is to offer young professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment.  The current vacancies in Myanmar, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines and Zimbabwe are open for Dutch nationals only. Application for the new YEP positions is open until May 27, 2018.

YEP Programmes is again looking for candidates for YEP positions. At this moment, there are eight job opportunities available, of which five in the agrofood sector. The current vacancies in Myanmar, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines and Zimbabwe are open for Dutch nationals only. Application for the new YEP positions is open until May 27, 2018. Open applications are also welcome until May 27.

YEP WATER POSITION Waterschap Zuiderzeeland – Organisation advisor

Country: Indonesia
Project title: Safe sanitation for lampung Selatan
Duration: 2 years

Background
The national government of Indonesia has stated that in 2019 everybody in the whole country should have access to a proper toilet with a proper septic tank .In 2019 the whole country should be Open Defecation Free (ODF).In 2015 the ODF rate was about 50%!

Since 2015 the Dutch Water Authorities (DWA) have been working together with SNV on this goal in Sumatra in the two Kabupatens (regencies). The main goal was of course reaching the ODF status for at least 2 sub districts of these Kabupatens. Now, February 2018, the whole Kabupaten Pringsewu has reached the status of 100% ODF and the Kabupaten Lampung Selatan is on course of reaching this in 2019. A great achievement! The numbers of illnesses in these regions speak for itself. Diarrhea, Dengue and Typhoid have gone down dramatically. This will have great effects on education and especially on education of girls. It will have great effect on economy and on fighting poverty and malnutrition.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION Orgaworld Asia BV – Sales and Marketing Engineer

Country: Myanmar
Project Title: Organic Matter Matters: Improving the Livelihood of Myanmar Farmers by Improving their Soil.
Duration: 2 years

Background
Orgaworld Asia is importing Dutch produced organic fertilizer into Myanmar. These products are 100% organic, and rich in organic matter, micronutrients and slow release nutrients. Using these products in Myanmar contributes directly to elevating urgent organic matter shortages; a more sustainable agricultural sector through products, training and means for more responsible production systems; CO2 sequestration; water retention and overall soil improvement where applied. For support with the marketing and sales of these products in Myanmar, a Young Expert is applied for.

YEP WATER POSITION The Netherlands Red Cross – Young Expert Food Security and Livelihood

Country: Philippines
Project Title: Eco-Smart Livelihoods and Food Security in Surigao del Norte
Duration: 2 years

Background
The Netherlands Red Cross (NLRC) in partnership with Philippines Red Cross (PRC) and Local Government in Surigao Del Notre Province has launched a 3 year (2016-2018) integrated ‘Youth ignite: Agents of Change ’ project. The overall goal of the project is to enable youth cope with the impact and consequences.

Using SALT approach, three (3) demonstration farms will be established in strategic locations-visible to community members for inspiration purposes. Two livelihood training centres will be rehabilitated. 60 farmers will be organised to form 3 cooperatives , linked to the 3 demonstration farms. These livelihood centres will be used to provide eco-smart livelihood trainings for approximately 1200 youth in the project area.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION AgriProFocus – Country Network Coordinator AgriProFocus Myanmar

Country: Myanmar
Project title: Promoting agri-entrepreneurship Myanmar
Duration: 2 years

Background
AgriProFocus is an international multi-stakeholder network consisting of farmer organisations, private sector enterprises, government, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations, working together to create collective impact and transform agrifood systems. All members actively work with and for farmer entrepreneurs, who are change makers in agricultural transformation. The AgriProFocus network has strong Dutch roots and is active in 12 countries in Africa and South-East Asia, linking 24.000 agribusiness professionals worldwide.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION ICCO Cooperation – Innovation and Inclusion Officer

Country: Myanmar, Yangon
Project Title: Inclusive and sustainable agrifood market opportunities in Myanmar
Duration: 2 years

Background
ICCO Cooperation (ICCO) is a Dutch founded organization for international development cooperation with 50 years of experience and global presence in Africa, Latin America and Asia. ICCO also holds office in the USA and the Middle East. We connect, promote and strengthen the work of local civil society organizations (CSOs), producer organizations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), national/multinational companies and governments. ICCO Cooperation has been working in South East Asia since the 1970s. The regional office in Indonesia implements, develops and manages programs in Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION Financial Access – Agrifinance Analyst

Country: Indonesia
Project Title: Smallholder Finance Assessment Project Indonesia
Duration: 2 years

Background
Financial Access is a financial services firm, focused exclusively on emerging markets and developing economies. We provide advisory and financing services and our emphasis is on designing, developing and delivering MSME finance, agrifinance and supply chain finance solutions that last. Our clients include (impact) investors, banks, microfinance institutions, international donor organisations, development finance institutions and private companies. We work closely with a number of global partners and have a strategic global alliance with SEAF.

We originate from the ING Group and were taken private in 2007. Our background is in essence operational, and we have successfully executed more than 250 assignments in over 40 countries. We aim to create sustainable impact and maintain environmentally and socially responsible financing, governance and advisory standards.

We are headquartered in Amsterdam and have operational offices in Jakarta, Bangkok, Nairobi and Kampala.

YEP AGROFOOD POSITION Q-Point BV – Junior Consultant Food and Nutrition

Country: Kenya
Project title: Capacity building for strengthening a sustainable Livestock Value Chain (LVC) in Kenya
Duration: 2 years

Background
Q-Point is an independent Dutch consultancy firm working for the Dutch and international public and private sector. Q-Point is specialised in consultancy projects for agro food businesses (from producer to retailer), donors and public institutions. Q-Point has a broad experience in food safety (GlobalG.A.P., BRC, IFS), traceability, integrated quality management (ISO), value chain management & analysis and market/business development (e.g. development, coordination and project management of international value chain projects). Currently Q-Point is involved as the leading firm in five (5) ongoing (NICHE) projects in Kenya and one (1) project in Kenya as a consortium partner.

Q-Point is looking for a junior consultant, to be based in Kenya (Nakuru County). This consultant will be linked to ongoing projects in Kenya and will build our professional network, will identify new potential clients and projects and will have a substantial and solid client portfolio in the agro and food sector in two years.

YEP WATER POSITION Vitens Evides International – Non-Revenue Specialist

Country: Zimbabwe
Project Title: Support of the Control Centre
Duration: 2 years

Background
As part of the UWSSRP program Vitens Evides International (VEI) won a tender (number 005) in 2015. UWSSRPII-005 runs from May 2016 to December 2018 (commonly referred to as the Zimfund project). This consultancy assignment addresses Capacity development, non-revenue water & customer care management for Greater Harare. To address non-revenue water, a GIS platform and hydraulic model have been developed and a Water Loss reduction plan is developed. The Harare Water Department is adjusting the organisation (with VEI input) and is currently working with VEI in pilot areas (DMAs) to determine the strategy to reduce NRW over the next five to ten years. Training of staff for the newly established Control Centre, GIS unit, district NRW teams and a business planning unit is conducted. The ambition is that this training creates staff capacity within Harare Water Department to implement the strategy to reduce the NRW over the next five years. However, all mentioned actions and trainings are still in the first stage of development and need years of ongoing support to make it sustainable.

Up to now, already 321 Young Experts kickstarted their international careers through YEP Programmes. Main goal of YEP is to offer young Dutch and local professionals the opportunity to take their first steps in an international environment in the water and/or agrofood sectors. YEP Programmes is carried out jointly by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Water Partnership and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform.
