F&BKP special embassies #01
The first Embassy special of our Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) newsletter presents the results of the “Food & Nutrition Security learning journey” to Kenya.
In June 2017, staff from Dutch embassies across Africa, Asia and the Netherlands visited Kenya for this learning journey. The journey was meant to jointly learn and reflect on the implementation of the Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) policy. Participants visited programs in four sectors: dairy, horticulture, potato, and edible oils.
They met with Kenyan and international farmers, processing companies, expertise centers and NGOs, which included amongst many others Agrico, AgriProFocus Kenya, Fieten Ltd., PUM, Rijk Zwaan, SNV, Unilever and Wageningen University. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Nairobi organized this learning journey together with the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs, Wageningen Center for Development Innovation (WCDI) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP).
The embassy staff will implement the ideas and insights developed during this learning journey in their work at national level. To connect to the broader multi-stakeholder knowledge domain of Food & Nutrition Security, embassies benefit and contribute as an important partner of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform. Food security experts and agricultural counselors can submit proposals for external events or short term analyses, relevant for FNS and private sector development policy goals. Results of embassy (learning) programmes can be communicated through the F&BKP newsletters and website.
