New YEP programme focuses on Agrofood

The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implements the successful YEP Water programme, offering young water professionals an opportunity to acquire professional experience abroad.
The YEP Programme Bureau, in partnership with the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP), has now announced the start of YEP Agrofood. It is a logic and inspirational extension, and an excellent example of cross-sectoral cooperation, states YEP Programme Manager Marjon Reiziger in her blog (only available in Dutch).

YEP Agrofood will promote the availability of international professionalism and expertise in the agrofood sector. The programme will offer Dutch young professionals an opportunity to acquire professional experience abroad and young local professionals an opportunity to take their first steps in an international work environment via Dutch organizations. YEP Agrofood will make a contribution to a dynamic international agrofood network and will make this network open to a new generation of agrofood experts.

Herma Mulder has started as the Project Manager of YEP Agrofood. She has a background in developing sustainable agri-chain programmes in Africa and Asia. With her ten years of experience working with the Dutch NGO SNV and the Dutch coffee and cacao trader Amtrada Holding, Herma is a strong asset for YEP Agrofood!

To introduce YEP Agrofood to the agrofood sector, three information meetings were organized: on June 23 in The Hague; on June 25 in Arnhem and on June 30 in Amsterdam.
During the meetings representatives of government, civil society, knowledge institutes and private sector showed their interest in YEP Agrofood. The criteria and relevance of the programme were discussed and participants were very interested in joining the programme. The results of the discussion will be used for the final design and structure of YEP Agrofood.
