First Young Experts Agrofood

In January this year, the first batch from Young Expert Programme (YEP) Agrofood – sixteen Young Experts in total –  followed a three week intensive training course, together with the Young Experts from YEP Water. They received masterclasses on a wide range of topics preparing them thoroughly to work in an international context. Classes such as cultural sensitivity, conflict management, intercultural communication, personal development, social media, project management, trend watching, and safety abroad are all covered by the training programme.

In February, most of the Young Experts started their secondment abroad: they are working for organizations such as Moyee Coffee, Delphy, VDS Acampo, SNV and AgriProFocus, in countries like Rwanda, Ethiopia, Myanmar and Indonesia. Furthermore, TopSector Horticulture and Starting Materials is highlighting the experiences from young professionals YEP Agrofood in their newsletter. The first blog “What’s YEPpening in de tuinbouw bij Etienne in Myanmar?” (in Dutch) has been written by Etienne, who works in Myanmar for Delphy (in Dutch).

Currently a new round of applications for Young Expert positions is being assessed. With again over 10 applications for Agrofood positions, the programme is really catching on. At the moment two new YEP Agrofood vacancies for Dutch Young Experts have been posted on the website and more will probably follow. Young Experts interested in the positions can apply until March 6, 2016. If you are selected, you will be invited for speed interviews on March 11.

Next deadline for organizations to apply for YEP positions is June 1, 2016.
