CGIAR System Organization (CGIAR)
CGIAR and the F&BKP
In September 2015, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs and the CGIAR System Organization (CGIAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. “Particular focus will be attributed to domains where CGIAR and Dutch partners have complementary expertise and to promoting research impact through interdisciplinary research approaches, co-creation and downstream applied research partnerships, including private sector and civil society organizations.”
In 2016, the F&BKP will continue to support the Ministries to promote involvement of the Netherlands in the 2017-2022 research programmes on thematic priorities Nutrition (A4NH), Climate Smart Agriculture (CCAFS and WLSE), markets (PIM) and starting materials. In addition, the Netherlands will play a role in improving the cooperation with the private sector in research programmes and the upscaling of results, building on the Dutch experience. A (virtual) CGIAR Community of Practice on the theme ‘public-private partnerships in research’ has been discussed and the Netherlands has offered to facilitate this.
About CGIAR
The CGIAR System Organization (CGIAR) is a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.
It is carried out by 15 Centers, that are members of the CGIAR Consortium, in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations and the private sector.
The 15 Research Centers generate and disseminate knowledge, technologies, and policies for agricultural development through the CGIAR Research Programs. The CGIAR Fund provides reliable and predictable multi-year funding to enable research planning over the long term, resource allocation based on agreed priorities, and the timely and predictable disbursement of funds.
