The “Africa Knows” Conference, to be held 2-4 December 2020, is organizing a panel on technical and vocational education and training (ATVET) in the agri-food sector. The panel, consisting of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform, Nuffic, RUFORUM and Wageningen University & Research, specifically focuses on how ATVET can bridge the gap between higher education, other forms of learning, and the business community, and launches a call for ATVET Success Stories. »

On June 5, 2020, the second online meeting of the Food security and COVID-19 CoP on Finance & Outreach was organized. Participating organizations were: convener NpM, ICCO, Solidaridad, 2SCALE, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), SNV, One Acre Fund, and OikoCredit. Representatives from the IGG department – acting as co-convener – and the DDE department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present as well; the CoP is supported by the Netherlands Food Partnership. »

This first Outcomes Paper of the F&BR Synthesis Study presents the findings from fourteen interdisciplinary research projects on two outcome areas: firstly, innovations for agricultural production and processing that intend to meet (existing or anticipated) needs of poor and marginalised producers and consumers in LMICs; and secondly, new approaches or strategies to connect marginalised producers to the market. »

In this report, Pepijn Schreinemachers from the World Vegetable Center, and Kanokwan Chodchoey, Steven Layne and Weeranuch Mhadlhoo from the Asia & Pacific Seed Association (APSA) give the results of a second survey among seed enterprise members of the APSA. This second survey showed that seed companies continue to report the same difficulties, but that there are clear improvements in nearly all aspects.  »
