Consumption and food markets

Food consumption patterns are influenced by a range of factors, such as socio-cultural, economic, policy-related and ecological factors. Consumer preference and demand also influence the market and the food system as a whole. This topic page looks into these dynamics of the consumer end-market, primarily in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It provides publications on the theory and practice of interventions to strengthen the functioning of consumer end-markets, with a particular interest in identifying development opportunities, lessons learned and linkages to food and nutrition security.
