Principles for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems

Published by CFS,

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) endorsed the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (PDF) in October 2014. The objective of the Principles is to promote responsible investment in agriculture and food systems that contribute to food security and nutrition, thus supporting the progressive realization of the right to adequate food in the context of national food security. The document seeks to address the core elements of what makes investment in agriculture and food systems responsible and to identify who the key stakeholders are, and their respective roles and responsibilities with respect to responsible investment in agriculture and food systems. The principles provide a framework that all stakeholders can use when developing national policies, programmes, regulatory frameworks, corporate social responsibility programmes, individual agreements and contracts.
