This year’s report uses the concept of nutrition equity to elucidate inequities and show how opportunities and barriers to attaining healthy diets and lives lead to unequal nutrition outcomes. To drive the transformative change needed to achieve nutrition equity, and end malnutrition in all its forms, we must focus on three key areas: food systems, health systems, and financing. »

This study estimates a food demand system, including 15 major food items in Vietnam, with multiyear household survey data. This publication examines the effects of Ebola on livelihoods and food security in Liberia and provides recommendations for future crises. Ebola aversion measures (quarantine, road blocks, and curfew) have had the most significant impact on livelihoods and food security. »

This study examined whether and how livestock production responds to (access to) markets and varying weather risk and explores whether such responses vary across livelihood zones and livestock production systems. The heterogeneity in responses and impacts of weather risk among farming systems and livelihoods highlights the need for more tailored livestock sector policies and interventions. »

This special issue journal aims to compile a series of insights related to innovation in irrigated agriculture. It became apparent that efforts to advance innovation for smallholder irrigated farming must remain a priority. Further emphasis should also be given to learning how to innovate the enabling environment itself. The key challenge will be to involve policy and decision makers. »
