The UN released the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2020: Transforming Food Systems for Affordable Healthy Diets. On Thursday, July 23, 2020, Ag2Nut and ANH Academy are pleased to directly bring the key findings, and will discuss their implications for agriculture-nutrition linkages.

In this webinar “The cost and affordability of nutritious diets globally”, Ag2Nut and ANH Academy will get an in-depth look at the report’s stark message that 3 billion people cannot afford the least cost forms of healthy diets. The first three speakers (Anna Herforth from Ag2Nut, Yan Bai from Tufts University, and Will Masters from Tuft University) led the analysis to produce that figure, and will explain the methods and results, and which types of foods are most expensive and where. The final speaker (Saskia Depee from WFP), we give additional insights on WFP work at country level on these issues, and what is driving the cost of nutritious diets. This will be followed by a discussion about the implications of these findings: What can be done so that agriculture and food systems improve affordability of healthy diets?
