On Friday November 14 , 2014 Hon Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nigeria and candidate for the presidency of the African Development Bank, will give a lecture entitled: “Unlocking Africa’s potential for Growth and Prosperity”. All the African Ambassadors in the Netherlands have been invited for this lecture.
Within the context of the joint collaborative framework of the EFARD-FARA partnership, Wageningen UR (University & Research centre) and FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa), Hon Dr Akinwumi Adesina is presenting an occasional public lecture.
Dr Adesina is the honourable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Federal Government of Nigeria. During the past couple of years, Dr Adesina has meticulously concentrated his energy on the transformation of the Agricultural sector of Nigeria. According to the Minister, ‘poverty is not a tradable commodity’ and agriculture is central to poverty eradication in Africa. In his opinion, agriculture is a business concern and not a development issue.
