How can we feed 10 billion people in the long run in a sustainable way? And what about the food security in our own country in the next decades? These are the central questions in the debate ‘Food Security for 10 Billion? Who takes up the challenge?’ (Voedsel voor 10 miljard? Wie pakt de handschoen op?) which is organised by the VVM-section Food and Agriculture on  Wednesday November 12, 2014, in The Hague.

The debate will be facilitated by Evelijne Bruning, director of The Hunger Project. Frans van der Steen, chair of the VVM-section Food and Agriculture, will give an introduction based on the four debates on this theme, which were organised by the Section in 2014.

The panel consists of: Albert Jan Maat – LTO, Henk Westhoek – PBL, Carl Hoyer – Royal Wessanen, Martijn Weijtens – Ministry of Economic Affairs, Henk Leenders – PvdA, Gerard de Vries -WRR.

The debate takes place in the Nutshuis – Haags Milieucentrum, Riviervismarkt 5 in The Hague; starts at 19:30 hours (doors open at 19:00 hours) and ends at 22:00 hours.
Admission fee: VVM members 10 euro, non-VVM members 15 euro.
