On a global scale, more and more people are making the decision to become social entrepreneurs in doing business while aiming for impact in food security. To gain more insight into their potential contributions, within the F&BKP, social entrepreneurs that work in food value chains in seven Dutch partner countries and their related challenges and opportunities have been mapped within their supporting and surrounding ecosystems. »

To harmonize the country-oriented Dutch development and economic diplomacy policies with increasing regional influences in poultry value chain developments, better insight is needed in the interdependency of the poultry sectors of different countries. »

The F&BKP supported a fact-finding mission in East Africa to explore the potential of the usage of hybrid true potato seeds (TPS) for this region, and to identify interested partners from both private and public sectors to support research, development and commercialization of this technology. The mission was implemented by Solynta and took place in six countries. »

During 2016 the F&BKP Steering Committee commissioned a stakeholder review of the Platform. Consultants Jolein Baidenmann and Alex Percy-Smith focused on the performance and added value of the Platform in the eyes of its stakeholders and gave forward-looking advice on the approach and positioning of the Platform. »

Early February, the first Food for All Talk under the WBG-Netherlands Partnership took place. Chair was Juergen Voegele, Senior Director, Agriculture Global Practice at the World Bank Group. Panelists John McDermott (IFPRI) and Inge Brouwer (Wageningen UR) urged participants to flip their thinking: from “Farm to Fork“, to “Fork to Farm”. »

On Monday January, 16, 2017, the YEP Effect Magazine was launched during the kick-off of the Young Expert Programmes Training for batch 10. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands Water Partnership and the F&BKP were present at the event and received the first copies of the magazine from YEP. »
