This study reviews the opportunities and challenges facing rural youth in the Near East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia (NEN) region and suggests a number of programmes and policy priorities that governments can take into consideration. Arguably, the most important issue facing rural youth in the NEN region today is weak job creation. »

A study across 46 countries find different patterns of consumption between regions and countries. Costs showed to be the biggest barrier of ASF consumption. »

This report examined the most up-to-date scientific assessment of the danger humanity faces if present trends continue, with priority being given to food systems in low and middle income countries (LMIC). The potential severity of the combinations of risks to which LMIC food systems are exposed requires a change in their transformation pattern. Since food systems face locally specific combinations of risks, they als have to meet locally specific objectives. »

This expert opinion states that camels have a large potential that is underutilized due to technical, logistic, political and economic challenges and genetic improvement is required. Camels are poised to be an excellent candidate species for production, due to their unique physiology and in light of climate change impact on ecosystems. However, to harness their potential, an improved understanding of the genetics underlying their unique biology is needed. This study investigated whether vegetable farming contributes significantly to the livelihood of farmers by generating cash and providing employment opportunities. The model results indicate a significant positive relationship between vegetable farming and livelihood improvement. »
