First Secretary Food Security
Since August 2014, Laurent Umans is First Secretary Food Security at the EKN Bangladesh, where he fulfils the following tasks: Project supervision; Policy dialogue with government, donors and NGOs; Engaging with the private sector in pro-poor development.
Laurent is also a PhD Candidate at the Wageningen UR Department of Social Sciences, Sub Division Sociology of Development and Change, conducting research on situations of 'fluidity' that go beyond complexity. In these situations things are not bounded, neat and separable. It is a world of becomings rather than beings.
Before 2014, Laurent worked at FAO and SNV and hold several positions at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
