The MasterCard Foundation organizes its annual Young Africa Works Summit in Kigali, Rwanda on February 16 – 17, 2017. This meeting will bring together 300 high-level influencers, practitioners, experts and youth to discuss strategies and solutions to ensure young people can actively participate in the modernization and growth of the agricultural sector in Africa.
At its inaugural 2015 Summit, the foundation explored agricultural value chains as a prime source of opportunity for youth economic empowerment. The Summit fostered a rich discussion about employment challenges and solutions. For more information about the event, please see the Summit Report.
In 2017, the foundation will move the conversation forward by shifting the discussion from how to engage youth in agriculture, to youth as drivers of agricultural transformation. This transformation holds tremendous promise for catalyzing prosperity and creating sustainable livelihoods for young people in Africa.
