This year marks the 50th anniversary of WOTRO Science for Global Development. To celebrate, we will host the conference WOTRO 50 Years – Forward Thinking, on Wednesday 15 October 2014 in The Hague.

Social innovation of knowledge creation

With keynotes, panel debates, group discussions and the final round of the student competition The Battle of Ideas, the day focuses on the future of research for global development. In particular, the conference will zoom in on the question what role social innovation can play in programming, funding and conducting research that can contribute to solving the world’s most wicked development-related issues.

Speakers and guests include Hannah Akuffo, Heide Hackmann, Jan Jonker, Wiebe Bijker and the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen. More speakers will be added to this list in the weeks to come, so keep checking this website for updates.
