The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Netherlands Space Office (NSO) have announced the Third Call of The Geodata for Agriculture and Water facility (G4AW). For this occasion NSO organizes the workshop “G4AW Towards More Impact” on February 17, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) Facility is a programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Netherlands Space Office is responsible for the implementation of this programme. G4AW supports projects to improve food security in partner countries. The projects are aimed to improve sustainable food production and to increase the use efficiency of inputs like seeds, fertilizer, pesticides and water in agriculture by providing satellite information based products and services to smallholders. Satellite data can help to generate reliable, timely and frequent information facilitating better decision making by smallholders. Partnerships between the private and public sector are the basis for developing new services.

Information Meeting Third Call G4AW

The workshop aims to:

  1. Inspire and facilitate potential partnerships for the 3rd call of the G4AW programme with objectives, criteria, and timeline information
  2. Share lessons learned and good practices from G4AW projects and related themes.
  3. Discuss with project managers of the 17 ongoing G4AW projects and experts in the field of finance, gender, water productivity and service development, about chances to strengthen the projects and secure a sustainable service provision.

During this day you will learn what makes a good G4AW project, or better, what makes a sustainable service provision for smallholders. For example: What is a strong partnership? How do you bridge the last mile? What is a strong business case? How to address and incorporate gender? How do you monitor and evaluate your project? How do G4AW proposals contribute to development goals and create business opportunities?
