The objective of the working conference “Building Policy-Knowledge Communities for Inclusive Development in Africa” in Nairobi is to further explore how the INCLUDE Platform can cooperate with African organizations and think tanks in knowledge sharing and knowledge uptake around the country-specific research projects supported by the INCLUDE Platform to start a policy-knowledge community.

On the first day, sessions will take place in which policy makers and practitioners present the burning questions in their respective policy fields (female entrepreneurship and fresh produce value chains), to inspire and link up to researchers and other resource persons and to discuss how best these policy questions may best be answered. Representatives from AfDB, HIVOS, PEPnet, UIA, UWEAL, FPEAK, Uganda Ministry of Gender, The Netherlands embassy and several research institutions have been invitied.

On the second day, the newly awarded research projects on social protection will present their projects and discuss potential cross-linkages as well as ways to promote policy engagement from the onset and throughout the research projects.
