In the afternoon of Thursday 15 December 2016 NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) from the Netherlands organize a public meeting in Accra, Ghana, on Inclusive Food Value Chains with projects of the first Call of the Global Challenges Programme.
All members of the five projects of this research programme round will be present in Accra in the context of their mid-term review. The research consortia consist of Southern and Northern scientific and non-scientific stakeholders and address international, regional and global challenges on food and nutrition security as a global public good. The projects of the first Call all address inclusive value chain issues from a producers perspective.
The public afternoon is meant to deepen knowledge on this subject with experts in the field. Aim of the afternoon is to enhance understanding of the concept Inclusive Food Value Chains and to identify linkages to other relevant initiatives. Therefore various stakeholders working in the field of food value chains from government, business, NGOs and knowledge institutes are invited to engage in discussions on the theme of inclusive food value chains as well as to support the projects in improving their connection with the work of private and public stakeholders in this field, in order to generate more impact.
After key notes of Mrs. Sheila Assibey-Yeboah, Country Representative at public international development organization IFDC Ghana and Deputy Program Leader of Business Platform GhanaVeg and one of the GCP projects, a panel with representatives from the Ghanaian government, and from NGOs, private and knowledge sectors will take place. This will be followed by a plenary discussion and breakout sessions with all participants.
