The Netherlands Enterprise Agency is organizing a meeting with the World Bank to present their yearly publication “Enabling the Business of Agriculture” (EBA). The publication examines and monitors regulations that impact how markets function in the agriculture and agribusiness sectors. The ultimate aim is to promote smart regulations that ensure safety and quality control as well as efficient regulatory processes that support thriving agribusinesses. The report provides a tool for policymakers to identify and analyze legal barriers for the business of agriculture and to quantify transaction costs of dealing with government regulations. The latest edition provides analysis and results from 62 countries (including the Netherlands), covering all regions of the world.

De Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland organiseert een bijeenkomst met de Wereldbank over hun jaarlijkse publicatie “Enabling the Business of Agriculture” (EBA). EBA is een benchmark van factoren die bepalend zijn voor het agrarische ondernemingsklimaat in verschillende landen. De studie, die kan worden gezien als het agrarische equivalent van de “Doing Business” benchmark, kijkt naar wet -en regelgeving met praktische gevolgen voor de sector, zoals vergunningen, heffingen, duur van aanvraagprocedures etc. Daarbij worden acht categorieën onderzocht: ‘seed’, ‘fertilizer’, ‘machinery’, ‘finance’, ‘markets’, ‘transport’, ‘water’ en ‘ICT’. Dit jaar is Nederland voor het eerst ook opgenomen.

Op 26 juni komt Federica Saliola van de Wereldbank de resultaten voor een aantal landen presenteren. Zij zal zich vooral richten op ontwikkelingslanden waar veel Nederlandse bedrijven actief zijn in de agrarische sector. Denk hierbij aan:  Kenia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Senegal, Ethiopië, Egypte, Colombia, Vietnam, Myanmar en Sri Lanka.

De presentatie zal vooral ingaan op de praktische toepasbaarheid van de informatie. Tijdens de bijeenkomst kunnen deelnemers ook in gesprek met Nederlandse beleidsmakers en toekomstige landbouwraden om te bepalen welke invloed de Nederlandse overheid kan uitoefenen op de besproken regelgeving.

De voertaal van de bijeenkomst is Engels.
