In light of the 2030 Agenda, inclusive multi-stakeholder partnerships are perceived and promoted as key instruments for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: partnership platforms are surfacing and new instruments are being set-up. Yet, not enough is known about how they work in practice. The overall picture of multi-stakeholder partnerships is rather sobering.

Building on its work on partnerships, ECDPM took a closer look at the main characteristics and institutional factors that drive and constrain the process of establishing and maintaining effective CSO-business partnerships, and is currently conducting specific case studies from the dairy (Tanzania and Kenya) and mining sector in (Madagascar and Ghana).
