FAO, WHO

As a follow-up to the ICN2, FAO and WHO are organizing an International Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems for Healthy Diets and Improved Nutrition. The idea is for countries to learn from one another about the innovative ways to improve diets and nutrition through food systems-related policies and interventions.

As countries increasingly recognize the importance of food systems in addressing the vicious cycle of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition, FAO hosts an International Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems for Healthy Diets and Improved Nutrition.

Special events

During the Symposium some special events will take place:

  • On the first day, King Letsie III of Lesotho, will be appointed as FAO Special Ambassador for Nutrition. (Green Room, 9:00 am – 11:00 am)
  • During the afternoon of the second day, Jenny Chandler, renowned cook and FAO Ambassador for the International Year of Pulses, Peter Menzel award-winner photographer and Faith D’Aluisio, writer and editor, will engage the audience in a talk on healthy eating and in a visual journey across the world’s food habits. (Sheikh Zayed Centre, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm)
