On Thursday March 19, 2020 the project team of the Inclusive Value Chain Collaboration project, which was carried out in Ghana and South Africa with funding of the Food & Business Global Challenges Programme (GCP) of NWO-WOTRO, will present their research results.
This is a unique opportunity to share the results, because all the PhD candidates that have been working on the Inclusive Value Chain Collaboration project (see also their Project page on this website) are in the Netherlands. The meeting will take place in Amsterdam, exact venue to be announced soon, from 13:00 – 17:00 hrs.
The project developed a farmer-centred approach to value chain collaboration (VCC) with tree-crop farmers (cocoa and oil palm in Ghana; and macadamia nuts and avocado in South Africa) that is inclusive of different smallholder profiles, their knowledge and innovation capacity, and the environment.
At the meeting the research team will present their unique farmer-centred learning platform approach and inclusive learning concept; results that reveal that not all smallholders in the tree-crop sector are the same and what this implies for support needs; the spatial effects of expanding tree-crop production; and the participatory spatial backcasting methodology that was developed to mobilize farmers in a dialogue on how to deal with these landscape effects.
