On Wednesday May 11, the the official opening of the “Share a Seed” photo exhibition by photographer Sacha de Boer takes place in Amsterdam.
Photographer Sacha de Boer recently visited a number of Farmer Field Schools, initiated by Oxfam Novib and CTDT partner in Zimbabwe. In the Farmer Field Schools women farmers learn how to adapt a diversity of seeds and their agricultural practices in response to climate change. More and more smallholder farmers are becoming dependent on commercial seeds that promise high yields. The harvests of these crops often fail because they are vulnerable to the extreme weather conditions, such as drought. With the support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery, women farmers and their families develop and share a diversity of seeds that are better adapted to climate change, and therefore improved their harvest and their livelihoods.
The photos of Sacha de Boer are exhibited in the traveling photo exhibition “Share a Seed” and is officially opened in Amsterdam on May 11.
