TopSector Horticulture & Starting Materials and the F&BKP
The F&BKP in collaboration with TopSector Horticulture and Starting Materials commissioned LEI/WUR to conduct a study to explore the Fruits and Vegetables Theme. This resulted in the publication of the study “How does the fruit and vegetable sector contribute to food and nutrition security?”.
About TopSector Horticulture & Starting Materials
The Horticulture and Starting Materials sector is one of the nine strong top sectors in the Netherlands, thanks to its internationally operating and innovative businesses. The Horticulture and Starting Materials sector comprises all plant product chains in the horticulture complex, and the entire horticulture and agricultural complex for starting materials. It is a broad sector with sub-sectors in fruit and vegetables, plants and trees and flowers and bulbs. The starting materials sector is involved in the production of seeds, seedlings and young plants. The TopSector focuses on knowledge, from fundamentally strategic to applied research and valorization, based on four key innovation themes: More with Less; Food Safety and Security; Health and Well-being; and Collaborating Value-chain.
