Fondation Nicolas Hulot (FNH), the International Urban Food Network (IUFN) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are launching the CLIMATE CHANGE URBAN FOOD Initiative.
Highlighting the strategic links between SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS, SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT and CLIMATE CHANGE, this initiative will showcase successful mechanisms and approaches to help respond to the challenges of achieving sustainable urban food systems in a changing climate. And it will usefully add to policy discussions for COP21, and beyond.
What will CLIMATE CHANGE URBAN FOOD initiative bring you?
- 4 webinars (2 in English, 2 in French) featuring international experts and practitioners discussing keys of implementing synergies between climate and food action at local level.
- 2 short movies, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our urban food system within a changing climate and why there is an urgent need now for action towards more sustainable food systems.
- Joint IUFN-FNH-UNEP Policy Perspectives Paper to challenge local and national decision-makers present at COP21 in Paris, and beyond, to consider urgent action towards more sustainable food systems.
Who is the CLIMATE CHANGE URBAN FOOD Initiative for?
- The international community (decision makers, NGOs, researcher, citizens) that works on climate change and urban food systems: the project will provide them with clear examples and proposals for action.
- Local Authorities that are getting organized to participate in COP21.
- The General Public, as any social change needs to gain public support.
