The next Brussels Briefing no. 52 on “Food Safety and the Food System in Africa” will take place on September 19, 2018 in Brussels. This Briefing will be organized by CTA, the ACP Secretariat, the European Commission (DG DEVCO) and Concord, in partnership with the Global Food Safety Partnership, the African Union and the European Commission /DG Health & Food Safety.
The Brussels Briefing 52 will discuss the importance of food safety as an element of the food system success, especially in Africa. It will feature the findings of a study by the Global Food Safety Partnership which maps and analyses food safety investments in Africa, to provide guidance for countries and for the development community on how to better maximise resources to improve food safety across the entire value chain – from farm to market.
The experts will share successes and challenges in advancing policy and practice in relation to food safety in agricultural products along the vale chain, from farm to fork.
Organised by CTA, the ACP Secretariat, European Commission (DG DEVCO) and Concord in partnership with The Global Food Safety Partnership, the African Union and the EC/DG Health and Food Safety, the Briefing will take place at time when the issue food safety, especially in the context of regional markets and the CFTA, is attracting greater attention than ever in Africa.
