The Start Me Up Africa event consists of two elements: the Startup Battle from 09.00-17.00 (closed audience; and the Startup Talk from 17.15-21.00 (public event, small bite beforehand, networking drinks afterwards).

Startup Talk

When you start a business, whether in Africa or in the Netherlands, you will face similar challenges and will overcome similar hurdles. Together with thought leaders the Start me up Africa Talk is a deep dive into the Dutch and African startup scene, it’s fast moving developments, the highs & lows and the opportunities that arise.

Speaker line-up

Join an interactive Q&A-session with Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy of StartupDelta and Minister Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, on the fast-moving landscape of startups that are increasingly active in new markets. Be inspired by Oscar Kneppers, founder of Rockstart (expanding internationally at a rapid pace) on his entrepreneurial journey and on creative leadership. Gain new insights on the growing African startup ecosystems and the Orange Corners initiative from Barry Dwolatzky, Director and CEO of Joburg Centre for Software Engineering. Acquire tips from African startup founders and youth ambassadors of the Road to Nairobi 2016, a project which connect and highlights youth entrepreneurs in eight African countries. Enjoy Marina Diboma, country head Netherlands of Africa 2.0. as the Master of Ceremony of the evening.

And…

The four startup finalists who came out of the Reversed Innovation Battle during the day will present their business once more in front of the jury. Only one African and one Dutch startup wins a flight ticket to Nairobi and the opportunity to pitch at the prestigious Get in the Ring Final on November 30. This final takes place during the High Level Meeting of the Global Partnership.
