On October 11, 2016, drsFILM and the Green Can Foundation present the premiere of “Silent Land: the fight for fair food” – a film by Jan van den Berg and Willem van de Put – in Tuschinski in Amsterdam.
In Cambodia, more and more fertile land is taken by large-scale farming industry. In its shadows, farmer families are fighting for their land ownership to keep producing for local food security. Who has the sustainable answer to feed the ever growing world population? the movie “Silent Land: the fight for fair food” shows the stories behind this conflict.
- Premiere of Silent Land is on Tuesday October 11, 2016 in Tuschinski, Amsterdam.
- Then special screenings follow in Utrecht on October 12, Wageningen on October 13, and The Hague on October 14. During this first week of screenings, the principal actors of the movie will be present. In The Hague, Vandana Shiva – an Indian activist and scientist who has been fighting genetic manipulation and patents on seeds for decades, in her strive to assure biodiversity and food for everyone – will share her vision on agricultural production during an interview with Maurits Groen.
- Finally, the film will be shown in 40 Dutch movie theaters, from Maastricht to Groningen.
