Klaas Johan Osinga works for the Dutch farmers’ organization LTO Nederland. A member of the International Affairs team, he is active in international domains, among which the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy CAP, competition policy, trade, Brexit, research strategy (like “Horizon 2020”) and international co-operation through Dutch Agri-Agency Agriterra for which he has done 13 short-term assignments in Asia and Africa since 2013.
He is a member of the Commission on International Entrepreneurship of Dutch Employers Organisation VNO-NCW.
In Brussels, Klaas Johan is a member of Working Parties of the EU farmers’ umbrella COPA-COGECA: Economic Analysis (co-ordinator), Food Chain, Common Agricultural Policy and Research & Innovation. He is also a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).
Before joining LTO, Klaas Johan worked in applied farm research in the Netherlands (1992-1996 and in 1999) and he was a VSO volunteer (Horticulturist) in Papua New Guinea from 1996-1998.
He graduated at Wageningen University in 1992.
Klaas Johan Osinga originates from a farm in Berltsum, Fryslân. He now lives in Ljouwert/Leeuwarden.
