Director Food Security and Valuing Water Program
Ivo Demmers connects people, knowledge and organisations to solve today's challenges to improve the quality of life. He has been managing and initiating both private and public organisations, programmes and projects in the fields of water, sustainability, food systems and the living environment in several countries.
Currently, Ivo Demmers is Director Food Security and Valuing Water Program at Wageningen University & Research. This program aims to develop new routes toward a sustainable food system. The main challenges achieving this goal are the depletion of freshwater resources, climate change, land management, soil degradation, declining biodiversity, migration and the increase in agricultural production. Not just the amount of food, but its availability and affordability are crucial.
