As a freelance consultant, Evert-jan Quak regularly works for the Platform and for The Broker as a senior research editor on the themes Food Security and Inclusive Economy. He worked for years as a freelance journalist specialized in international economics, corporate social responsibility and trade issues. He has a degree in international economics and economic geography from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Evert-jan has a mixed professional background, in both journalism and as policy advisor in international development. He is the author of the book "Het onzichtbare label" (The invisible label - KIT Publishers 2009/10) in which he tackles the question why current corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies don’t seem to work. He started his work in journalism as freelance reporter in the Dutch Parliament.
