The power of new approaches and technologies, young minds and reaching outside the box of World Bank domain bubbles, was shown on May 19 and 20, 2018 during the Datathon Food Loss and Waste. The event was organized in Amsterdam at the premises of big data company Xomnia B.V., under the WBG-NL Partnership “Food for All”. »

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to do a review for the first phase of the F&BKP, 2013 – 2018. Evaluators Ton Dietz and Joep van den Broek were appointed to look at the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the Platform and based on this to formulate recommendations for the future outlook of the Platform. In many developing countries, agribusinesses are highly engaged in providing services to small-scale farmers, including agricultural advisory or extension services. Yet, the phenomenon of agribusiness-based advisory services (ABAS) has received little attention in the study of and discourse on advisory services. KIT, Agriterra, Moyee Coffee, and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform have therefore joined hands in a learning trajectory that studied advisory service delivery to small-scale farmers by agri-businesses. »

The Netherlands Land Academy, together with the Food & Business Knowledge Platform, CIFOR and Shared Value Foundation jointly set out in 2017 to design and implement three multi-stakeholder Learning Platforms around investment hubs in Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda. The final synthesis report has now been published. »

Increasing the contribution of agriculture to nutrition and health, creating and implementing policy frameworks for sustainable agro-value chains and developing tools for climate smart agriculture are key achievements of CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs). This work receives support from the Netherlands, as part of the NL-CGIAR Strategic Partnership. Africa is facing high levels of unemployment among the youth, a growing youth bulge, rapid trends of urbanization, and unsustainable agricultural food systems. Young people in Africa are a world of challenges and opportunities and should be seen as key actors. But how can we enforce their role in the needed agricultural transformation? »

There is great potential for the Dutch food security agenda to be more effective when a food system approach, the ambition of leaving no one behind and local knowledge gain a more central role. This was the main conclusion from the multi-stakeholder dialogue on the recent IOB evaluation of the Dutch food security policy, on May 31, 2018 in Wageningen. »

The Borderless Network initiative developed a common ambition and agenda for the internationalization of green education. HAS University of Applied Sciences – on behalf of the Borderless Network, and financed by the F&BKP – executed a learning trajectory. The study focused on different partnership modalities between green education institutes and other actors. The analysis was discussed in several meetings which resulted in recommendations for the Borderless Network and its members.  »
