Integrated landscape management is increasingly recognized as a means to simultaneously achieve sustainable food production, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable livelihoods at the landscape level. With the aim to contribute to the further sharing of knowledge, dialogue and action to support integrated landscape management worldwide, CDI organized the Netherlands Landscape Learning Journey. »

Six new projects under the first round of the third call of the Food & Business Applied Research Fund (ARF) have received funding from NWO-WOTRO. The new ARF-projects will start in the next few months and will take up to three years. All research teams are led by a practitioner organization from one of the fifteen partner countries of Dutch development cooperation. »

The aim of the workshop “The Future for Food Systems” was to support systematic food systems research as an analytical and policy device. The seminar was organized by Wageningen University & Research and IFPRI together with FOODSECURE & SUSFANS. Participants were about 100 researchers and experts from private sector, government and civil society organizations. »

Africa’s rapid population growth of youth is increasingly becoming a key priority on the development agenda. Looking at the cases of Mali, Kenya and Ghana, a quick scan study of the F&BKP, INCLUDE and AgriProFocus provides some new insights into the challenges of the agricultural sector, food security and youth unemployment. »

The F&BKP assisted with a mid-term review of the Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) Facility. The findings show that the G4AW Facility opens new markets for providing information services. The G4AW projects offer a wide range of business models that address a gap in the current global geodata services market by offering locally targeted advice to small food producers, based on satellite information. »
