Last spring the F&BKP facilitated a consultative stocktaking process to feed a Strategic Knowledge and Innovation Agenda (SKIA) for SDG2. A range of experts was consulted as well as key policy documents and literature. This inventory was translated in a report that has been published online now. In the report a multi-stakeholder request is dominant for a future knowledge agenda focusing on food systems transformation from a Research in Development perspective. »

The F&BKP aims to develop a more coherent knowledge agenda and stimulate knowledge sharing for improved Food and Nutrition Security. The Knowledge Portal is one of the Platform’s tools for knowledge dissemination. This tool is now being evaluated using a survey, which will help the Platform to adjust the Knowledge Portal to better meet the users’ needs. They argue that malnutrition is not a problem that can be overcome through growth or development since even as economies expand, the quality of diets does not improve. Vacant lots to vibrant plots: a review of the benefits and limitation of urban agriculture

This report argues that the benefits of urban agriculture are important but may be overstated. The report examines the benefits and limitations of agriculture and provides an overview of the documented outcomes of urban agriculture so far. Urban agriculture’s most significant benefits center around its ability to increase social capital, community well-being, and civic engagement with the food system. However, special attention should be paid to ensure that residents have a voice in decision-making. »
