Dutch food security programs in the international development domain have been mainly focussed during the last few decades on increasing agricultural production and reinforcing international trade of tropical commodities. This focus is now gradually changing towards activities that devote key attention to gender and nutrition, circularity and climate resilience, and upgrading of agro-food value chains. Moreover, there is a growing interest in systematic learning from interventions by engaging researchers into development programs. »

On Thursday afternoon January 17, 2019, the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) and NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development organized the public seminar “Future food systems for Ghanaian food security” in Accra. Please watch the summary video. »

The Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP), Embassy Support Programme and Talent Pool will continue as the Knowledge Programme for Food Security. This Programme will increase the impact of Dutch projects, programmes, policies, investments and business on SDG2 by knowledge brokering across professional divides. It will facilitate the creation, exchange and – particularly – the use of knowledge by Dutch actors and their LMIC partners. »

This report enhances the knowledge on the global implications of the EU food system. How trade relations of the EU with LMIC may evolve in the future, depends on major trends in consumption and production in the EU. »

During the recent World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, strong interest in Food Systems approaches was confirmed by policy makers and business leaders.
