On June 5, 2020, the second online meeting of the Food security and COVID-19 CoP on Finance & Outreach was organized. Participating organizations were: convener NpM, ICCO, Solidaridad, 2SCALE, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), SNV, One Acre Fund, and OikoCredit. Representatives from the IGG department – acting as co-convener – and the DDE department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present as well; the CoP is supported by the Netherlands Food Partnership. »

Women’s access to rural finance: challenges and opportunities

This paper aims to give an overview of the variety of challenges and opportunities linked to the promotion of women’s access to finance in rural contexts, while also presenting a number of good practices which can be adopted to foster inclusion. Rural women face several constraints that limit their access to financial services, such as sociocultural, economic/legal and in some cases educational barriers. On the other hand, financial institutions also face constraints extending services to rural women. »

Access to agricultural finance in Jordan

This report is an advisory piece with recommendations towards facilitating access to suitable financial services for smallholder farmers to improve their livelihoods and break the cycle of indebtedness. The application of a holistic approach that focuses on access to markets, access to finance and capacity building is required for sustainable improvement of small farmers’ livelihoods using financial services. »
