Nominate the Agrofood Broker of the Year 2018!

The nomination round has been closed on November 19, 2018.
Since last year, the Food & Business Knowledge Platform annually awards a professional in the field of Food and Nutrition Security (FNS), who has undertaken significant brokering activities. Until November 19 it was possible to nominate professionals who have been actively and enthusiastically connecting actors to align policy and/or practices with knowledge (development) in order to contribute to FNS in 2018. »

What can be done to support the consumption of more healthy food products by the poorest people in low- and middle-income countries, the people at the so-called “Bottom of the Pyramid” (BoP)? That is an urgent challenge, given the fact that globally 155 million children are still stunted, 52 million children are wasted, and 2 billion people lack key nutrients like iron and vitamin A. Netherlands-CGIAR partnership launches call to finance PPP and Research Uptake expert

A call for a PPP and Research Uptake expert within the framework of the Netherlands – CGIAR partnership has been launched. The Dutch government considers Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Research Uptake to be crucial in achieving the SDGs. The expert is therefore intended to increase the role of the private sector (for-profit and not-for-profit) in CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs) and Platforms. Deadline to apply for this position is October 18, 2018. »

The “Food Systems Approach” was one of the buzzwords of the WUR SDG conference of late August. There seemed to be consensus among speakers, panelists and participants that food systems need a transition. Future food systems need to deliver better: more food needs to be available and accessible for the growing, more urbanized world population, it needs to be part of a balanced, nutritious diet, and to be produced, processed and traded in new ways in order to cope with climate change and resource scarcity. »
