Inventory on Dutch partnerships in support of SHAEA

The regional project Strengthening Higher Education for Agri-Food Transformation in Africa (SHAEA) is a proposed regional loan of the World Bank to six African countries to strengthen linkages between selected anchor universities and the regional agricultural sector. To create mutual benefit and set up sustainable cooperation networks, the F&BKP commissioned to Nuffic an inventory of existing institutional relations between the Netherlands and nine African countries. »

Scoping mission to implement UNSCR 2417 on hunger and conflict in Horn of Africa

From November 10 to 22, the F&BKP participated in a scoping mission to Sudan and Somalia organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Purpose of the mission was to inform an upcoming regional resilience programme (FNS-REPRO) that intends to operationalize and implement UNSC Resolution 2417 on hunger and conflict in the Horn of Africa. »

A year later, NLandscape reflects on what has been achieved so far and expresses its future ambitions. Agroforestry is a low cost foundational practice to increase agricultural productivity and set the stage for further intensification. If used in combination with water harvesting, organic manure and micro-doses of good quality fertilizer yields in drylands can increase greatly. This was a key message of Chris Reij, Senior Fellow Global Restoration Initiative at the World Resources Institute, who gave a presentation during a lunch seminar organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. »
