The article “Whose sea is it anyway” was published in the State of India’s Environment 2019 report by Dr. Joeri Scholtens and Prof. Amalendu Jyotishi of the GCP project Fish4Food, and describes how India’s fisheries are passing through a critical phase where the relation between production, livelihood and consumption reflects various trends of concern. »

Simon R. Bush and Peter Oosterveer of the research team of the GCP project SUPERSEAS have published a new book “Governing Sustainable Seafood”. The book explores the rise of social movements through environmental NGOs, the nature and perceived limits of government regulation within and beyond the state, and the promise of market-based approaches such as ecolabelling. »

A novel aquaculture feeding concept is exploiting the pond ecosystem to encourage farmed fish and shrimp to ingest naturally occurring food alongside feed – a system that has the potential to reduce both production costs and environmental impacts. The trials for this nutritious-pond concept are part of the GCP project “Nutritious-system pond farming in Vietnam”.  »

On January 17, 2019 the F&BKP,  WOTRO and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a research – practice exchange seminar in Accra, Ghana which focused on Food Systems Approaches (FSAs). The meeting was attended by some 30 project members of the NWO-WOTRO Global Challenges Programme (GCP) Call 3 who were in Ghana for their midterm review. They were joined by some 40 Ghanaian Food & Business stakeholders working in the field of agri-business. »
