Dutch food security programs in the international development domain have been mainly focussed during the last few decades on increasing agricultural production and reinforcing international trade of tropical commodities. This focus is now gradually changing towards activities that devote key attention to gender and nutrition, circularity and climate resilience, and upgrading of agro-food value chains. Knowledge Programme for Food Security

The Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP), Embassy Support Programme and Talent Pool will continue as the Knowledge Programme for Food Security. This Programme will increase the impact of Dutch projects, programmes, policies, investments and business on SDG2 by knowledge brokering across professional divides. It will facilitate the creation, exchange and – particularly – the use of knowledge by Dutch actors and their LMIC partners. »

Delivering on the promise of transformational change: What does it take for Dutch-supported PPPs?

This paper presents the main lessons from Dutch-supported public–private partnerships (PPPs) in food security and water, provides building blocks for making PPPs deliver on the SDGs, with fundamental implications for key partners in PPPs and policymakers. Taking into account the lessons from Dutch-supported PPPs and their challenges, the Dutch PPP approach is in need of recalibration. »

Evaluation of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform 2013-2018

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to do a review for the first phase of the F&BKP, 2013 – 2018. Evaluators Ton Dietz and Joep van den Broek were appointed to look at the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the Platform and based on this to formulate recommendations for the future outlook of the Platform. The Policy and Operations Evaluation Department (IOB) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented its review results of the Dutch food security policy in the period 2012-2016. IOB assessed the contribution of the Dutch food security policy to higher agricultural production and farm incomes, better access to nutrition and an enabling business environment. »
