Caroline Wooning is manager at the Knowledge and Innovation Department of the Directorate-General Agro of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. She is working for the Ministry of Economic Affairs for 17 years and has large experience in the field of European Economic Affairs. She worked in Brussels for the Dutch Permanent Representation and the cabinet of Vice President of the European Commission for the Digital agenda. After a master in law, Caroline has studied at the l’Ecole Nationale D’Administration in France. Caroline also contributed to the energy transition and a long term vision on wind energy on the Northsea during the NL EU presidency. In her new role as manager at the Knowledge and Innovation Department she has responsibility for the coordination of the EU and international strategy, parliamentary coordination and knowledge infrastructure and valorisation. She strongly believes in public private partnerships and the impact of strong knowledge networks. She is GB member in FACCE (European Joint Programming on Food Security, Agriculture and Climate Change) and a member of SCAR (Standing Committee on Agricultural Research) as well as member of different European research networks.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs emphasizes the vital contribution agricultural knowledge and innovation can make towards meeting our policy objectives in the agro and food transition towards a sustainable, innovative and competitive agro and food sector. The Ministry therefore actively supports food security efforts in many ways and through various projects.
