SUMMARY:The Borrel meets Green Banana Food Company
DESCRIPTION:\n\nOn October 3\, 2017\, the Borrel of the Pyramid has invited IBA food entrepreneur Sean Patrick to present his company\, the Green Banana Food Company. A healthy lifestyle complements our busy lives. But how can we do good for our own body while at the same time positively impacting local farmers elsewhere? \n\nThe Borrel of the Pyramid\n\n\nThe Borrel of the Pyramid believes that social entrepreneurship is key to sustainable development. Several times a year people who are interested and believe in the power of social entrepreneurship come together at the Borrel of the Pyramid to brainstorm and discuss about sustainable\, pro-poor solutions at the Base of the Pyramid. \nThe aim of the Borrel of the Pyramid is to gather with people who are passionate about social entrepreneurship in developing countries and want to share on innovative ideas and solutions for the base of the pyramid\, during an informal borrel. People joining the borrel are pragmatic\, open for new ideas and willing to share and learn; people who believe in the added value of non-governmental organisations but at the same time get the essence of commerce\, which we believe is key to sustainable development and progress. \nThe Borrel of the Pyramid is a way to brainstorm about entrepreurial solutions for challenges at the base of the pyramid. During the borrel\, a case will be presented by an entrepreneur who is active at the base of the pyramid. This case will be leading during the evening: participants will brainstorm and come up with new\, innovative or creative solutions to the problem being presented to you. \nThe Green Banana Food Company\nGreen Banana Food Company (GBFC) is a social enterprise\, which promotes green growth innovations. In Uganda\, local farmers work hard to get a good crop and build decent lives. Local farming is inadequate to sustain families. Therefore GBFC works towards direct partnerships with local farmers in Uganda. Farmers get a higher and fair price for their crops\, and additionally they can enhance their businesses through an investment fund fuelled by a percentage of GBFC’s profits. Sustainable farming practices are also encouraged to get high quality crops. \n\nGreen banana is a natural high nutrient crop growing in Uganda. Green banana flower\, with a fusion of other pulses\, legumes and vegetables are the nutritious ingredients of the Italian gluten-free pasta products of GBFC. \nJoin the Borrel of the Pyramid to help growing this social enterprise further. Click here to register! \n\n
